Hi, I'm Gabi

My Story

I am a dedicated Brazilian-American teacher born and raised in the United States who has recently returned from five years living in São Paulo, Brazil to complete my graduate work in Literary and Cultural Studies at the esteemed Carnegie Mellon University. My bachelors degree is in Art History and Criticism, but I have over a decade of experience teaching English to language learners. Throughout my career, I have utilized my passion for English literature, the arts, travel, and language learning to inspire students to see how language can enrich their lives with cultural exchange and engagement.

What Makes Me Unique

​My time teaching English and humanities at Avenues São Paulo including two years teaching SAT prep, I’ve specialized in helping Portuguese speakers elevate their English for academic and professional success. My experience in Portuguese and teaching native Portuguese speakers makes me especially qualified in supporting Portuguese speakers in correcting common mistakes in English and in explaining complex grammatical differences.

My students consistently give strong feedback on my engaging, results-driven approach, and many have gone on to study at top universities in Brazil, Europe, and the U.S.—including the Ivy League schools they dreamed of. I am passionate about the opportunities that a high quality education can offer. I know that for many people, improving their English for entrance exams, applications, and other academic and professional situations can be the key to those opportunities. I want to help more people achieve these goals with my language support.
